A Belvedere Hills resident says she has not slept properly in three days after the neighbourhood’s dogs began what she described as “a fully coordinated night-shift barking arrangement”.
According to the exhausted woman, one dog starts shortly after bedtime, a second takes over around midnight and the remaining animals provide backing vocals until breakfast. By the third night, she had thanked a coat rack for listening, accused the moon of humming and reported seeing a bin collection that had not actually happened.
“At this stage the barking has rhythm. I think they’re rehearsing,” she said, while attempting to make tea with the television remote.
Matters took a competitive turn when she learned that Robert McDonald stayed awake for 453 hours and 40 minutes — 18 days, 21 hours and 40 minutes — in 1986. Rather than going to bed, she reportedly calculated that only 381 hours and 40 minutes remained and declared, “I’m going for the record.”
